Every compressor usually has a peak and rms mode, but these two do not always act the same. The SC4 performs both functions by two different Envelope Followers (FEF). One is a peak follower which acts on the main output, and one is RMS envelope follower which is connected to the mix output.
Envelope follower is a very good way to compress/expand waveforms. In a typical compressor the compressor is attached to the main output of the audio. If one wants to have some specific behavior of compression and expansion, the easiest way is to use the envelope follower, which is an independent module that is attached to the mixed output of the compressor.
SC4 has two Envelope Followers. One is a peak follower which expands the amplitude and cuts the level. The second one is an RMS follower which cuts the level of the input signal and makes it less sensitive to the level. The ratio between both is the Blend Factor. The Blend Factor can take three different values (0.5, 1.0 and 2.0). This allows a smooth and exact control of the blend between the two Envelope Followers.
SC4 is very flexible and has a lot of parameters. For example you can define the Attack and Release time of the Envelope Followers, the Threshold, the Release Threshold and also the crossover point. You can define a variable output signal that will contain both envelopes, but also other values such as the gain reduction, boost and compression ratios, make up gain, etc.
There are several modes: hard attack, good attack, soft attack, fast attack, slow attack, “loud” and “quiet”. All modes work differently so you can use SC4 for a wide range of applications.

Your suggestions are very good.
I used to do the manual by double clicking the slider of the main slider.
You didn’t suggest a good compression with an envelope but be careful with your gain reduction: if you have a small gain reduction for instance a range of +30 the compressor will behave like a gate compressor and be like to break your sound.
I suggest a gain reduction (dB) more like the following:

I’m not sure you can see it on the image, but I used the limiter from the Tune Edit. This had the effect that it would distort if the sample rate was too

Use this mode to reduce the gain of the signal in relation to the peak of the input signal. This means that the compressor will not use as much gain as if you have set the drive to Peak, so your gain reduction will be less intense.
Peak (Peak Envelope)
Use this mode to reduce the gain of the signal in relation to the peak of the input signal. This means that the compressor will use as much gain as if you have set the drive to RMS, so your gain reduction will be as intense.
Auto (Auto Envelope)
Use this mode to reduce the gain of the signal in relation to the envelope of the input signal. This means that the compressor will use whatever gain reduction ratio you have set, so there will be no variation in intensity.
Attack Strength (dB)
The amount of gain reduction applied after the compressor starts reducing the signal. Higher attack strength will allow the compressor to squeeze more gain out of the signal.
Makeup gain (dB)
The degree of gain reduction applied to the input signal before the compressor starts reducing the signal. A higher makeup gain will help to keep your signal as close to the original as possible.
Gain Reduction
The degree to which the input signal will be reduced. Lowering this value will help to reduce the compression, but result in a less intense gain reduction.

Creating an animation in Photoshop while moving a shape

I’m trying to create the effect of the knife drawing in the picture below in a way similar to the effect of the knife drawing in the left. However I’m not sure how to do so. First I try to reduce the size of the shape in the center of the image then gradually move the shape to the edges of the image in a circular motion.
Any help is appreciated.

Can’t say I’ve never used it, but what I have done is:

Duplicate the layer and move the contents of that one to the middle of the canvas
Create a new layer and mask it with black “eraser”
(This part you can do in multiple ways, but I did it by bringing the eraser over the edge of the newly duplicated layer and then dragging it in towards the middle
Flatten the image to remove the duplicate layer.
Create a selection around the entire shape that you want to animate, then simply delete that selection.
Apply a slight motion blur to it, taking care not to blur the black areas outside the shape
